“A reliable, independent, and professional statistical system is a fundamental prerequisite for modern governance, institutional development, and the implementation of evidence-based policy. In this regard, the National Statistics Office of Georgia and the country’s statistical system are achieving significant success in terms of compliance with international standards, data quality, and institutional development, holding leading global positions in numerous areas,” – Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Vakhtang Tsintsadze stated in his address at the 107th anniversary event of Georgian statistics.
According to Vakhtang Tsintsadze’s assessment, the National Statistics Office of Georgia represents one of the most vital institutions providing high-quality statistical information for the state policy planning and decision-making processes.
“The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development actively relies on the official statistics produced by the National Statistics Office of Georgia in the process of economic policy development, analysis, and planning. Within the framework of close partnership, the Ministry and Geostat also jointly execute numerous surveys and analytical projects, which further strengthens the process of evidence-based decision-making,” – the Deputy Minister noted.
Tsintsadze added that significant progress has been achieved in recent years toward the development of the national statistical system. This encompasses a range of measures aimed at expanding the scope of statistics, conducting new surveys, producing new indicators, increasing accountability and transparency, strengthening international cooperation, and developing new user-tailored services.
