Second meeting of the bilateral working group on Georgia-Turkey cooperation in the tourism sector was held. Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed ways to deepen partnership and implement new initiatives. They also deliberated on creating joint tourism products and strengthening ties between the private sectors of both countries.

The working session held in Tbilisi was led by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irakli Nadareishvili, on the Georgian side, and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Nadir Alpaslan, on the Turkish side.

According to Irakli Nadareishvili, cooperation with Turkey in the field of tourism holds strategic importance.

“Turkey traditionally represents Georgia’s vital and largest trading and economic partner, and this applies equally to the tourism sector. Turkey is one of the important countries for Georgia in terms of inbound tourism. We discussed the existing cooperation and directions that are of interest to elevate tourist cooperation between the two countries to an even higher level. This includes experience sharing, a number of projects and cooperation within the private sector. It is important to increase tourist flows between our countries,” – the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irakli Nadareishvili stated.

Within the meeting, the Head of the National Tourism Administration, Maia Omiadze, presented on the country’s tourism potential and the dynamics of the industry’s development, while the head of the Turkish delegation focused on the prospects for implementing joint projects.

Participants in the bilateral meeting included the Head of the National Tourism Administration Maia Omiadze, Chairwoman of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of Adjara Tinatin Zoidze, President of the Georgian Tourism Association Natalia Kvachantiradze, and Chairman of the Turkey-Georgia Business Council Osman Çalışkan Mzhavanadze.
