In the second quarter of 2026, alongside high economic growth observed in the country, positive trends continue in the business sector across turnover, product output and employment.
In the second quarter, the turnover volume of the business sector increased by 11,9% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching a record high for a second quarter of 67,5 billion GEL.
During the reporting period, business sector output amounted to 25,7 billion GEL, which is 10,7% higher than the corresponding period of last year and represents a record amount for a second quarter.
In the second quarter, output of large enterprises was increased by 15,0%, while the growth of output for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) stood at 6,9%.
According to statistical indicators, output increased in almost all sectors during the second quarter. Significant contributions to output growth were made by growth in manufacturing (+17,8%), trade (+9,4%), transportation and storage (+18,8%), mining and quarrying (+35,9%), arts, entertainment and recreation (+14,5%), healthcare (+15,1%), information and communication (+4,7%), and accommodation and food service activities (+9,6%).
It is worth noting that parallel to the increase in economic activity within the business sector, the number of employed persons is also growing. In the second quarter of 2026, the number of jobs in the business sector was increased by 4,1%, reaching 828,4 thousand, which is a record high for a second quarter.
Compared to the second quarter of the previous year, number of jobs was increased in almost all sectors of the economy.
The largest contributions to this growth fall on trade (+5,7%), accommodation and food service activities (+11,0%), information and communication (+6,4%), and transportation and storage (+4,4%).
In the second quarter of 2026, the average monthly remuneration of hired employees was increased by 153,8 (6,6%) GEL reaching 2471,5 GEL.
It should be highlighted that the Government of Georgia is actively working on further improving the business and investment environment, enhancing private sector competitiveness and strengthening economic sustainability.
The ongoing and implemented government support measures focused on improving SME competitiveness, attracting investment, agriculture, infrastructure and industrial development continue to have a major positive impact on economic activity and job growth.
