Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with Lesley Bearman Lahm, the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Resident Mission. The parties discussed priority areas of cooperation between Georgia and the ADB with a particular emphasis on the energy sector.
It was noted that the ADB is a significant partner for Georgia in the energy sector, specifically in infrastructure, green energy development, sectoral reform, and technical assistance.
The Minister highlighted the vital role of the energy sector in the overall economic development of the country. According to the Minister, active work is underway on updating the energy strategy, supporting the private sector and developing large-scale infrastructure projects.
The Georgian side presented the 10-year Energy Development Strategy of Georgia, under which installed capacity will increase to 11500 USD, making the country energy self-sufficient. The parties discussed major energy projects planned by the government, including the Black Sea Submarine Cable and its strategic importance.
Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development, Inga Pkhaladze and Irakli Nadareishvili, and Deputy Minister of Finance, Ekaterine Guntsadse, also participated in the meeting.
