12-05-2026

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani, met with representatives of various airlines. The primary goal of the working meeting was to ensure seamless operations at the country's airports during the summer navigation season and to coordinate future plans. It was noted that the state remains a constant partner for airlines and is ready to provide maximum support to maintain stability in the sector and further increase connectivity.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the public and private sectors will work in a coordinated manner to ensure the industry is prepared for any existing or potential challenges.

The parties discussed global challenges directly affecting the stability of the aviation market, as well as ways to overcome them jointly.

The discussion also touched upon current aviation statistics. As the Minister noted, 2025 was a record year for Georgia's aviation sector as during the peak periods, more than 70 airlines operated on over 120 air routes with approximately 760 frequencies per week. It was highlighted that despite the regional situation, the growth trend in the civil aviation sector continued in the first quarter of 2026, with both passenger traffic and the number of flights increasing compared to the same period last year. It was noted that the Ministry of Economy, together with aviation authorities, is actively negotiating with aviation authorities of various countries and airlines to launch new direct flights to Georgia. As a result, the Georgian aviation market is gradually returning to its previous growth dynamics.

Givi Davitashvili, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, and Levan Moseshvili, Director General of the United Airports of Georgia also attended the meeting.
