Georgia and the Republic of Korea will sign the Memorandum on SMEs and Startups promotion, which will allow the Korean side to share the relevant experience with Georgian colleagues. Local startups will be invited to Korea where they will be given the opportunity to develop their business. These issues were discussed at the meeting of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, George Kobulia and the Minister of SMEs and Startups of the Republic of Korea, Hong Jonghaak. The meeting was held within the frames of the George Kobulia’s visit to the Republic of Korea.
At the meeting, the Korean side talked about the tools that are used for supporting Korean small and medium enterprises and startups, helping local startups to develop and find new partners.
It was noted that the experience of the Korean side in this direction is especially interesting for Georgia. Therefore, it was taken a decision to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) and Startups of the Republic of Georgia.
“Korea will support us to promote small and medium enterprises and startups. According to the Memorandum, the Korean side will share the experience with Georgian colleagues. In addition, special programs will be prepared for Georgian small entrepreneurs, which will envisage their travel to Korea and enable them to develop their startup businesses,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated.
At the end of the meeting George Kobulia invited the Korean colleague to participate at the Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi, which will be held in autumn of 2019.
Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, Otar Berdzenishvili, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze and the Head of the Enterprise Georgia Agency, Mikheil Khidureli also attended the meeting.
