“It is important for me to hear convincing answers from the company if when exactly they are going to pay the wages to the colliers, and most importantly, when exactly they will provide safe working conditions for proper operation of the company. All the issues regarding the wages should be solved as soon as possible,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated at the meeting with the colliers and the GIG Saknakhshiri representatives in Tkibuli.
Natia Turnava visited Tkibuli following the instruction of the Prime Minister. As she said before the meeting, the government will be the guarantor for the company to fulfill its obligations. “We are very concerned about the fate of the Tkibuli colliers, I know this sector well. I have the Prime Minister’s most urgent task to find a solution that is acceptable to all parties, first and foremost for you, the colliers since you are the main asset of the Sakhnakshiri, the main force,” – the Minister noted.
Natia Turnava, however, said that she is convinced that coal mining has good prospects in Georgia and it is an important sector in many way, including in terms of availability of local energy resources.
“I want investors to submit the answer and a plan. Hopefully, they have a very convincing plan regarding the terms when the safe extraction will be restored. We need to find a balance so that coal mining can be restored and your work is safe,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated.
