Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava examined the ongoing gasification works in Zeda Kldeti village of the Zestaponi Municipality. It should be noted that this village has never been supplied with natural gas before.
The Minister personally introduced the details of the work to the locals and noted that within the scope of the large-scale gasification program 9000 families will be gasified in the Imereti region only.
At the same time, the Minister was informed about the difficulties and the needs of the population directly from the villagers. Natia Turnava also highlighted the opportunities for development of the agro-tourism, as well as the business facilitating programs of the LEPL Enterprise Georgia that can be used even by micro and small entrepreneurs. According to the Minister, certain villages of the Zestafoni Municipality will receive natural gas next spring. Turnava added that the gasification is an additional opportunity for the residents of these villages to develop their small businesses, including opening of the family hotels and other facilities.
“We are continuing intensive gasification works throughout Georgia. Within the three-year plan, 226 settlements were approved for the gasification and while working on next year’s budget, we managed to find additional funds and as a result, at about 300 settlements would be gasified, including about 60 settlements in the Imereti Region. Gasification will cover even such small villages as Tabakin and Zeda Kldeeti,” – Natia Turnava said.
The three-year gasification plan was recently amended and, following the decision of the Georgian Government, the number of settlements to be gasified was increased by 96 villages up to 295 throughout Georgia.
