“Due to the events caused by the COVID-19 virus pandemic, the Georgian Post, as a high social responsibility company, managed to take high security measures in the shortest possible time to prevent the spread of the virus. Today, a large proportion of postal workers are required to perform on-site, which is necessary due to the nature of their activities and cannot be implemented remotely. The company provides home delivery without direct contact with the addressee, which is very important for the prevention of the spread of the virus. I would like to thank the Georgian Post staff for standing by the country and its fellow citizens at such an important time,” – Natia Turnava, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said.
The Georgian Post supplies medicines and facemasks to the citizens with chronic diseases over the age of 70 (80 000 persons), which are at the highest risk. In addition, mail couriers provide facemasks to single retirees over the age of 70 (41 000 individuals) and the children and adolescents under 18 with diabetes with glucometer test sticks and forearms (up to 1 200 persons).
The Georgian Post has also successfully provided disinfection work in the company’s service centers, postal exchange and sorting centers across the country, equipping employees with protective equipment: disinfectant solutions, gloves, facemasks and protective shields.
“Currently, about 1500 employees of the Georgian Post continue to work with doubled efforts to provide services to the citizens of our country,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted.
