Giorgi Gakharia Opened Georgia-Hungary Business Forum

Georgia-Hungary Business Forum was held at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel within the official visit of the Prime Minister of Hungary. Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Gakharia and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó opened the Forum.

Topical panels and bilateral meetings were held between Georgian and Hungarian companies. The Hungarian delegation comprises of the representative of the companies operating in such sectors as energy, construction, engineering, manufacturing, consumer goods industry, agriculture, food industry and consulting services.

“Hungarian companies that arrived for the Forum represent certain fields. This will be very pragmatic meetings between the representatives of the businesses that, on their turn, are supported by the Governmental delegations. I believe that these meetings will result in certain business activities. Hungarian side is mainly interested in the processing enterprises, construction, water management and pharmaceuticals,” – Giorgi Gakharia noted.

According to the Minister, several important agreements will be signed between the Governments of Georgia and Hungary. “One of the most important documents is the Memorandum on Promoting Investments. It is also significant that the meetings held today will give us a closer economic opportunity,” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted.

According to the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, Georgia is one of the main political and trade partners to Hungary in the region. “We have excellent political relations with Georgia. We strongly support Georgia's integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures. Now it is necessary to develop economic cooperation to the highest levels in terms of business and investments. We sign the agreement on joint investment protection in order to promote mutual cooperation in this direction. At the same time, through the Hungarian bank we are opening a credit line of € 85 million,” – Péter Szijjártó commented.

The Georgian-Hungarian Business Forum was attended by the representatives of the Government and private sectors as well as diplomatic corps and international organizations. The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán addressed the participants of the forum in the second panel.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia together with the Hungarian Trade House organized the Forum.
