Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia made an explanatory statement on the Law of Deprivation of the Property for the Necessity of Public Needs and, in particular, on the initiative of deprivation of the property for the purpose of installing the stationary chair-lifts. According to the Minister, the Law is concerned with the installment of the chair-lifts, which are meant to serve the  mountain resorts.

Giorgi Gakharia made an explanation about the installment of the stationary chair-lifts while commenting upon the statement of the Georgian Young Lawyers Association on the new initiative – as the GYLA suggests, this initiative is related to the Panorama Tbilisi project.

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development explained the purpose and the importance of the Draft Law as follows: “the NGOs and the GYLA can find the associations of the project with us directly. This was primarily our own initiative, since, as you know, the state implements a concentration of very large investments in the development of mountain resorts, this step is of vital importance for sure”.

According to Giorgi Gakharia, the new Law implies just tchair-lifts that are meant to serve the mountain resorts. “We are talking about tens of million dollars in the budget, which will be used for the development of the mountain resorts next year. We are designing new, modern chair-lifts whether it is in Mestia, Gudauri, Goderdzi, Bakuriani or other places of Georgia. Thus, the new law is to facilitate this process to ensure the desirable results” - Giorgi Gakharia stated.
