The process of the establishment of the Strategy included the Profile of the Ministry of Economic and the following donor organizations: Greening Economies in the European Union's Eastern Neighbourhood (EaP GREEN), Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

The Document of the Green Economy Growth Strategy should include the sectors of Economy, Environment, Energy, Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Education, as well as the measures to be implemented in these sectors and their financing issues.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irma Kavtaradze chaired the first working meeting. “The strategy is committed to promoting the sustainable development of our country’s economy and attracting the new green technologies that will help Georgia to advance to the leading countries of this field. The Document of the Green Growth Policy developed by GIZ shall be submitted to the Government for approval in the nearest future. Today's meeting was just of advisory nature. We will do our best to maintain a Green Growth Strategy for Georgia, which will contribute to the development of our country”- Irma Kavtaradze stated.

Remind that Georgia joined the Green Debt Declaration in the November of 2016. The Declaration-affiliated countries shall include the directions of Green and Growth in their policies.  Besides, the government should encourage the green investments to flourish in the country. As it is defined in the Strategy of Social-economic Development of Georgia, “the state shall encourage the development of Green Economy and the introduction of modern technologies that are focused on environmental protection.”
