On April 28, first session of Georgia-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Tbilisi, The Session was co-chaired by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Moldova, Vasile Bîtca.
“Moldova is our partner, since we have absolutely equal strong policy regarding the EU and therefore, we have no political ambiguity. Consequently, we try to deepen the economic relations, which at this point are not very close. That was the very reason to conduct the first session of the bilateral commission today. We established the Commission today and when we start working on the interagency level, we will be able to determine the fields where expansion of the cooperation is most promising” – Giorgi Gakharia stated.
Within the framework of the Commission, the parties discussed many different issues, including the main directions of the cooperation between the two countries, current economic and trade relations, export opportunities, prospects of enhancing of the cooperation, industry and enterprising in the field of agro-production, food proceeding, etc.
“There are the prospects of the cooperation between the two countries in the sectors of the agriculture and high technologies and those are the directions, where we can improve our indicators promptly, “ – Giorgi Gakharia stated.
Leaders of the different state bodies and the experts of the both countries participated in the first session of the commission.
Deepening of the cooperation in such fields as transport, tourisms, energy, communication, innovation, environment protection, culture, education, etc.
“We all come to the conclusion that this Intergovernmental Commission will further stimulate the development of the relations between the two countries. This is the first time after the Independence of the Republic of Moldova when we sign such an important document with Georgia. I am really glad about this” - Vasile Bîtca stated.
After the meeting, Giorgi Gakharia and Vasile Bîtca signed an agreement “On Establishing Joint Intergovernmental Economic Cooperation Commission between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova". Also, the document "On Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova". After the meeting, Giorgi Gagaria and Vasile Bitka signed an agreement "On Establishing Joint Intergovernmental Commission of the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on Economic Cooperation”. The Document on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova was also signed.
