“We agreed with the IT sector representatives that a Digital Transformation Council will be established in the country to allow public and private sectors work together to fully transform the economy, including the development of the IT, which will contribute to the country's economy, employment and additional income mobilization. We believe that one of the most promising directions for the country in the future will be the development of digital technologies,” – Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili stated after the meeting with the representatives of the IT companies.

Deputy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili, Head of the Communication, Information and Modern Technologies Department of the Ministry Eka Kubusidze and, Chairman of the LEPL Innovation and Technology Agency Avtandil Kasradze also answered the questions of the business representatives at the meeting.

The vision of the Ministry regarding the digital transformation of the country as well as further development of the IT sector in line with the already implemented and upcoming measures were presented at the meeting. It was noted that the leadership of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development welcomes the initiatives by the business in terms of faster development of the sector and offered them to create a permanent effective communication platform and the idea received positive assessment among the business.

Produtive dialogue allowed the participants to identify the priority directions including the development of the IT sector in Georgia, promotion of the export of technological products developed in the country to international markets, training of professional staff in the field, etc.

“We will hold similar meetings with all other economic sectors to find the existing needs and challenges directly from the representatives of the sector and, reflect them in our policies that will be more effective and needs-oriented,” – Vice Prime Minister commented.
