Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

“There are centuries-old traditions of good neighbourliness between Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, which have been further strengthened after the restoration of the state independence and have reached a qualitatively higher level. I am deeply convinced that high-level strategic and good-neighbourly relations between our countries will be further strengthened for the benefit of our peoples and countries,” – Levan Davitashvili stated at the meeting with Ilham Aliyev.

President of Azerbaijan and Vice Prime Minister of Georgia discussed strategically important issues for the two countries, including energy, transport, tourism, communications, investment and other sectors. According to Levan Davitashvili, they talked with Ilham Aliyev about the opportunities that Azerbaijan and Georgia have to ensure smooth service off increased cargo flows to Western as well as Central Asian countries.

According to the Vice Prime Minister, the parties also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of energy and talked about the development of areas such as digital transformation, and implementation of joint tourism projects that will promote the region in the international tourism market.

“Cooperation between the two countries is really strategic and Azerbaijan is one of our main economic partners. Our cooperation with this country includes many important projects of not only regional but also international significance,” – Levan Davitashvili said after the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan.
