Levan Davitashvili Met with Czech Republic Senate President

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili met with the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Miloš Vystrčil, who is paying an official visit to Georgia.

A wide range of relations between Georgia and the Czech Republic was discussed at the meeting. It was noted that Georgia made a historic decision and applied for the EU membership, thus moving Georgia-EU relations to a new stage. According to the Vice Prime Minister, Levan Davitashvili, this decision brings great responsibility to strengthen efforts on Georgia’s path towards the EU membership.

The Head of the Czech delegation reiterated the Czech position on Georgia’s accession to the European Union and NATO, highlighting that the Czech Republic supports Georgia’s prompt acceptance into these organizations and pledged full support in the process of reforming.

The meeting focused on deepening bilateral trade and economic cooperation in such sectors as energy, mechanical engineering, tourism, agriculture, transport, healthcare, etc.

The importance of holding a meeting of the Intergovernmental Economic Commission between Georgia and the Czech Republic was also stressed, since the delegations of the two countries determined the priority directions of future economic cooperation there.

Vice Prime Minister, Levan Davitashvili welcomed the opening of the Czech Trade Office of the Czech Trade Promotion Agency in Tbilisi. He expressed hope that the office will play an important role in further promotion and development of bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Georgian-Czech Business Forums within the framework of the Czech government visit, which is to be hold in Tbilisi and Batumi received the highest evaluation by the sides. Thirty Czech businesspersons arrived in Georgia to participate in the Forum.
