On December 27, the presentation of the double-sided stamp dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Georgia and the Republic of Italy was held at the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Guram Guramishvili, General Director of the Georgian Post, Levan Chikvaidze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Georgia, H.E. Enrico Valvo and Director General of the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia, Giorgi Kekelidze participated in the opening ceremony of the special event.

On the stamp printed by the Georgian Post as well as on the stamp prepared by the Italian Ministry of Enterprises and Products, there is a printing of a sketch of Bichvinta Temple by the Italian monk, Teramo Cristoforo Castelli. The author of the Georgian stamp is Baadur Koblianidze.

“A stamp dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Italy was put into circulation, which is dedicated to a jubilee of Georgian-Italian Relations and features of the Cathedral Monastery of Bichvinta via the 17th century sketch by the Italian missionary, Teramo Cristoforo Castelli. The works created by Castelli are invaluable for the history of Georgia and important for the cultural heritage of Georgia. Issuing this stamp will contribute to the strengthening and deepening of the friendship of the Georgian and Italian people,” – Guram Guramishvili stated.

According to the General Director of the Georgia Post, Levan Chikvaidze, the new stamp is available in 81 service centers of the Georgia Post throughout the country, and it is already possible to send mail with that very stamp. According to his information, the printing run of the postage stamps issued by the Georgian Post is 20 000 units, and of the stamps printed by the Italian State Mint and Polygraphic Institute (Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato) – 350 010 units.
