Levan Davitashvili Inspected Tourist Facilities Under Construction and Infrastructural Works in Abastumani

Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, together with Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze, inspected the ongoing and completed infrastructural works in Abastumani.

Deputy Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili, Head of the National Tourism Administration Maya Omiadze and other officials also got acquainted with the works at the resort.

Within the framework of the visit, they visited the high-class hotels under construction in Abastumani - Rooms, Hilton and Paragraph, got acquainted with the infrastructure projects, including the construction works of a parking lot equipped with electric car chargers, which is designed for up to 770 vehicles at the entrance of Abastumani. Within the framework of the second phase of the urban renewal of Abastumni, there are rehabilitation works to restore green and blue corridors of the settlement, which include the arrangement of pedestrian and bicycle paths, recreational and relaxsation areas as well restoration of the central road and other facilities.

This visit to Abastumani was preceded by a coordination meeting held at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development within the framework of the development of the resort at the beginning of this month. The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili and the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Irakli Karseladze heard from the representatives of the private sector about the ongoing and planned hotel constructions in Abastumani. Almost all investors who are developing projects of hotels, restaurants and event spaces in Abastumani participated in the meeting held at the Ministry.

Levan Davitashvili commented that the rehabilitation works of Abastumani are proceeding according to the plan and the resort will be fully ready for the  season of 2025.

“Renovation of Abastumani resort is in an intensive phase, a large part of construction works has been completed and finishing works will begin in the nearest future. So, the main infrastructure and hotels will be put into operation at the end of next year, and for the season of 2025, the resort will be completely ready, fully renovated in accordance with modern standards and taking into account high ecological requirements, to host local as well as international tourists,” – Levan Davitashvili noted.

Within the framework of the Abastumani development plan, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure has already accomplished the complete rehabilitation of 20 historical houses of the XIX-XX centuries, the National Astrophysical Observatory built in 1932, and the cableway built in 1982 on the central street of the Abastumani resort. General Plan for the development of Abastumani resort was also developed.

For the development of a unique air and landscape resort, the complete rehabilitation of the Baghdati-Abastumani road and the construction of the bypass road of Abastumani are in progress with the state funding.
