Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili held a meeting with Minister of Transport and Road Safety of Israel, Miri Regev, who was on working visit in Georgia.
Bilateral economic relations, including deepening of cooperation in transport and logistics, as well as road safety was the main part of the conversation.
It was noted that one of the priority directions of the Georgian Government is the development of existing and new port infrastructure. For this purpose, Georgian attaches special importance to the construction of a Anaklia Deep Sea Port.
Deepening of the cooperation between Georgian and Israeli naval schools was also a part of the discussion.
Attention was also focused on the cooperation of the two countries in the field of civil aviation. It was noted that the launching of direct regular flights between Georgia and Israel resulted in increased number of passengers transported during January-May 2023, which is by 32,7% higher compared to the similar indicator of 2022.
The dynamics of bilateral trade were also discussed at the meeting. It was said that on May 1 of this year, a joint declaration was signed on the conclusion of the feasibility study on concluding a Free Trade Agreement with Israel and starting of relevant negotiations, which is to be launched in 2024.
At the end of the meeting, Levan Davitashvili invited the Minister of Transport and Road Safety of the State of Israel, Miri Regev, to the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.
