Mariam Kvrivishvili at Coordination Meeting with Georgian Paragliding Federation Management

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili discussed the ongoing preparatory work within the framework of the new legislation regulating paragliding flights at another coordination meeting held with the management of the Georgian Paragliding Federation, which was also attended by representatives of the  Civil Aviation Agency and the National State Property Agency of the Ministry.

It was highlighted that the Federation is actively working to fulfill all the obligations defined by the relevant resolution of the Government of Georgia to ensure safe flights with paragliders.

“The Ministry and its agencies actively cooperate with the Federation, we have working meetings on various emerged issues, and our main task is to restore paraglider flights and their safe operation in special airspaces as quickly as possible and in full accordance with the relevant Government decree,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

Deputy Minister stated that air space for paragliding flights at 11 new locations is being studied, including those in Tbilisi, Kakheti, Mestia, Bakhmaro, Goderdzi and Bakuriani.

It should be noted that preparations for the start of flights are actively underway in Gudauri – after passing the theoretical exams, on July 13, those wishing to make paragliding flights underwent practical exams and the representatives of the Civil Aviation Agency observed the process in situ. In case of successful completion of the test flights, relevant licenses shall be issued. At the same time, the process of certifying the operators and issuing a conclusion on the suitability of the flight locations for flying continues,” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
