“Accurate action plan and strategy of the Government of Georgia allowed the tourism and aviation industry in our country to develop, get stronger and return to the pre-pandemic level at a very fast pace” – Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili assessed the statistics for the first six months (January-June, 2023) published by the National Tourism Administration. The data illustrated that 2 860 117 international travelers visited Georgia during this period.
Mariam Kvrivishvili pointed out the statistics, which confirm that the number of travelers reached the 74% of the level before the pandemic, while compared to the same period of 2022, the increase is 75,9%. In addition, 1 930 483 international tourist visited country in first 6 months of 2023, which is a 90,8% recovery of the data of 2019, while compared to 2022, the increase is 59,6%.
“Today, over 50 airlines operate on the Georgian market with up to 60 direct flights, which means that we are trying to increase the capacity and direct connections with the strategic, target countries of the European Union and the Gulf every month, so that even more tourists are able to visit the country” – Deputy Minister announced and added that the data of the first six months of 2023 confirm that the passenger flow at Georgian airports was recovered by 100 percent and equaled the pre-pandemic level.
As for the data of the 2nd quarter of 2023, 1 651 655 international travelers visited Georgia, which is a 73,6% recovery and compared to 2022, the increase is 57,4%.
