Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze held a meeting with the World Bank Regional Director, Koen Davidse.
Georgia and the World Bank relations were discussed at the meeting with special attention to ongoing and upcoming projects involving the Bank.
Georgia and the World Bank partnership between was given a positive evaluation since it greatly facilitated the implementation of important structural reforms in the country in such important directions as improving the competitiveness of the private sector, arranging new infrastructure, promoting small and medium enterprises, developing an innovative ecosystem, transport, energy, corporatization of state enterprises, etc. At the same time, priority areas of ongoing and future cooperation were emphasized.
Ongoing research regarding the Black Sea Submarine Cable was emphasized during the conversation as well giving the special importance to the project in terms of energy future of Georgia.
Deputy Minister also spoke about the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, which is being held for the first time after the pandemic and scheduled to be held in Tbilisi at the end of October. Genadi Arveladze noted that high-level participation of the Bank at the event is od outmost importance.
