Tbilisi Silk Road Forum has been launched - the opening ceremony of the event was held in Tbilisi State Opera and Ballet Theatre. The forum is held under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili, and over 2000 guests from 60 countries participate in it this year.
Prime Ministers of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Montenegro are to address the audience at the opening of the Forum. In addition, high-ranking representatives of the governments of European and Asian countries participate in other panel sessions. This year, the Silk Road Forum is distinguished by the fact that in line with the high-ranking official – prime ministers, vice prime ministers and ministers, international business sector will also be actively involved in the Forum.
“Interest towards the Silk Road Forum has increased especially in 2023. This indicates that in general, the role of Georgia in the region is increasing – Georgia as a reliable, interesting, dynamically developing economy is attractive to investors. It has favourable environment for business, and I am sure that many successful deals will be made between the businesses within the framework of the Forum,” – Vice Prime Minister Levan Davitashvili stated.
Representatives of the diplomatic corps and international financial and donor organizations, international experts and journalists also take part in the Silk Road Forum. About 200 B2B meetings have already been scheduled within the framework of the Forum.
The Forum will work for two days, on October 26-27. Ten thematic panel sessions and parallel panel discussions will be held within the Forum. The topical issues to be covered at the sessions include the increasing role of the Middle Corridor, development of the transport and logistics connectivity, financial sector, communication, energy, tourism, technologies, etc. The second day of the Forum is devoted to the discussion of Georgia’s investment opportunities.
“There will also be very interesting discussions within politicians on different topic - we will cover many areas including transport, Middle Corridor perspectives, trade-related issues, investments, finances and many others. I really hope that the Forum will be very successful and promote Georgia even more. High-level decisions on important economic issues can and should be taken in Georgia since we really have that potential,” – Levan Davitashvili commented.
Moderators of the sessions held within the Forum are the leading BBC, Bloomberg and Deutsche Welle journalists. About 200 local and foreign journalists are to cover the event.
