On November 2, 2023, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Genadi Arveladze, met with the Director-General for International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Sarah Ahn, within the framework of his visit to Republic of Korea.
Current Georgia-Korea bilateral economic cooperation was the main topic of the conversation. The parties expressed their readiness to further intensify relations. In this regard, successful completion of preparatory work for launching of the negotiations on the Georgia-Korea Economic Partnership Agreement, which implies the signing of a joint statement on the official start of negotiations.
The Agreement on Economic Partnership envisages the liberalization of trade in goods and services between the two countries, as well as the deepening of sectoral cooperation in various directions.
The parties also discussed the possibility of holding the next round of ongoing negotiations on the Georgia-Korea bilateral intergovernmental economic commission and bilateral investment agreement in Georgia in the nearest future. The parties decided on holding the meetings in Georgia in the first half of 2024.
Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, Tarash Papaskua, also attended the meeting.
