In Tsikhisdziri, Adjara region, in Petra Sea Resort, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Pullman branded hotel and residence houses was held. The First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili participated in the event.
Tornike Rizhvadze, the Chairman of the government of Adjara, as well as representatives of the project's partner international tourism brands, Accor Group and Pullman, as well as other officials also attended the ceremony.
"It is important for us to note that the projects implemented in recent years are of a high standard. This is how we envision the development of tourism infrastructure in the coming years. When we talk about the ambitious plan of increasing the tourism in Georgia by 2028, when we talk about new bed funds, we mean that it will be high-quality infrastructure that will allow us to attract guests with higher purchasing power to the country. The plans, which the Prime Minister presented to the public during the presentation of the election program, are not a virtual promise, but are supported by such projects as the Pullman project," – the First Vice Prime Minister stated in his speech and added that the project of five-star hotel and residences will be able to operate in full scale by the end of 2028. More than 500 people will be employed during the construction, and 250 new jobs will be created after the completion of the project.
The First Vice Prime Minister stated that the implementation of the project will amount to approximately 80 million USD. After its implementation, a new high-quality bed fund will be added to Georgian tourism. According to Levan Davitashvili, additional new hotel complexes and, most importantly, high-quality tourist infrastructure are important for the further development of tourism in Georgia. "It is important for us to promote the introduction of tourists with higher purchasing power to Georgia, which is an important component of the country's economic development," – Levan Davitashvili added.
As the First Vice Prime Minister stated, it is equally important that the tourism project develops sustainably. He also announced the transport project, which provides for the restoration of sea transportation of passengers in the Adjara region. For this purpose, the construction of a pier and a yacht club is planned near the hotel complex.
