Assessment of the hydro-dynamic impact on the maritime infrastructure of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is underway at the current stage of its construction. The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Guram Guramishvili, and the Director of Anaklia Sea Port LLC, Zurab Sichinava, attended the laboratory testing of the breakwater model in Copenhagen, Denmark.

"As it is known to public, the design and construction phase of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is in progress. At the general design stage, an assessment of the hydro-dynamic impact on the maritime infrastructure is being carried out, which is being done on a model of the actual project breakwater by simulating various external factors," –  the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted.

The laboratory testing process of the breakwater model to be built in the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is being carried out on a model of the actual project breakwater by simulating various external factors. The tests were conducted by the international authoritative engineering design company Royal Haskoning DHV, organized by the subcontractor of JV Jan De Nul – Prime concrete, within the framework of the contract signed between Anaklia Sea Port LLC and them. Jan De Nul partners and contractors also participated in the tests.

Guram Guramishvili familiarized himself with the process of 3D virtual simulation of the breakwater and the main design parameters based on this simulation. The testing will continue for several days and will be carried out by DHI, which specializes in laboratory research and testing in the field of water infrastructure. As the Deputy Minister notes, it is important that this process is led by a world-leading company with 60 years of experience and a high international reputation.

"This process is carried out using advanced hydro-technical methodology, which will allow us to have sustainable maritime infrastructure in the Anaklia Deep Sea Port. This will ensure the entry, exit, and operation of ships in the Anaklia Deep Sea Port at any time of the year," – Guram Guramishvili said.

In addition to the 3D wave testing of the physical model by DHI, the configuration of the breakwater and the plan/schedule for the next stage of research were agreed with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

Various thematic and technical working meetings were also held during the visit.
