The progress of the Black Sea underwater cable project was discussed at the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council, in which the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Vakhtang Tsintsadze, participated.

As Vakhtang Tsintsadze stated during his speech at the ministerial meeting, the Black Sea underwater cable project will provide a reliable route for the supply of clean, renewable electricity from Georgia to European consumers. According to Tsintsadze, the Black Sea underwater cable will ensure the strengthening of the region’s energy security and facilitate the export of electricity produced in Georgia, as well as strengthen Georgia’s position in the direction of energy transit.

According to the Deputy Minister, an international study has confirmed the technical and economic feasibility of the project. “The Black Sea Cable project is included in the draft list of Projects of Common Interest (PCI) in the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity’s (ENTSO-E) Ten-Year Network Development Plan 2026. A few weeks ago, a working meeting was held in Brussels at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy to discuss the Black Sea Cable project as a candidate Project of Mutual Interest (PMI),” – Vakhtang Tsintsadze noted.

The Deputy Minister stated that the successful implementation of the project requires close coordination, strategic investments, and strong partnerships.

“Georgia is fully ready to cooperate with our regional and international partners to implement this initiative. The Black Sea underwater cable project is a global investment in strategic infrastructure. This is our common vision for a sustainable and energy-secure future,” – Vakhtang Tsintsadze emphasized.

The Georgian side at the ministerial meeting was also represented by Zviad Gachechiladze, a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgian State Electrosystem.
