“Wizz Air makes a significant contribution to strengthening Georgia’s tourism industry, currently flying from Kutaisi to 14 countries. Among these, the intensive flights to Poland are particularly important, bringing in large numbers of tourists. This year, flights to Madrid and Hamburg are also notable, and direct flights to Lyon are a completely new and significant route” – Mariam Kvrivishvili stated after a meeting with Wizz Air representatives.

Kvrivishvili described the meeting with Wizz Air representatives as very productive. Alongside the Deputy Minister, attendees included Levan Moseshvili, General Director of the United Airports of Georgia; Tamar Ioseliani, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board; and Alexander Gachechiladze, Deputy Director of the LEPL Georgian Civil Aviation Agency. Wizz Air was represented by Andras Rado, Commercial Officer for Eastern and Central Europe, as well as the Middle East; Akos Bush, Head of Airport Development Department; and Akos Palenskár, Airport Development Manager.

“We received positive feedback from the airline representatives, which demonstrates the resilience of our country’s tourism and aviation industries. We discussed future plans on how to further expand coverage from Kutaisi International Airport and establish even more direct flights to strategically targeted countries. This will primarily ensure the strengthening of Imereti as a tourist destination” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

According to the Deputy Minister, Wizz Air representatives noted that the airline’s operations in Georgia have been highly successful. The Deputy Minister assessed that the airline’s activities are very important for the country’s tourism industry, as it operates a significant volume of flights to 24 destinations from Kutaisi International Airport. The majority of these flights are to EU countries, which positively impacts the strengthening of Georgia’s tourism potential.

“We also discussed future plans, and we are very pleased that new flights are being added, which, of course, will further strengthen Georgia’s tourism industry, especially small and medium-sized businesses operating in the tourism sector” – Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.
