Within the framework of the Paris International Air Show, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met with Philippe Pascal, the CEO and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the French state corporation ADP Group, which owns and manages Paris Charles de Gaulle, Orly, and Le Bourget airports. During the meeting, they discussed deepening cooperation and future investment opportunities.
ADP is a French state corporation that also manages 26 international airports worldwide and is one of the largest aviation holdings. TAV Airports, which currently manages Tbilisi and Batumi International Airports, is part of the ADP group.
Levan Moseshvili, Director of the United Airports of Georgia, Tamar Ioseliani, Chairperson of the company’s Supervisory Board, Serkan Kaptan, President of TAV Airports, and Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV Georgia also attended the meeting.
The cooperation between Georgia and ADP Group was discussed at the meeting. It was noted that TAV Airports has made significant investments in Tbilisi and Batumi airports, which has positively contributed to the development of civil aviation in Georgia.
As the Deputy Minister stated, significant growth in tourism and civil aviation has been observed in Georgia in recent years – in 2024, passenger traffic increased by 24% compared to the same period last year, exceeding a record 7,4 million passengers. This trend continued in 2025, and in January-April, all three international airports served over 2 million passengers. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that a record number of over 60 passenger airlines operate approximately 100 air routes at Georgian airports, and this trend is growing.
“Considering the record figures in the aviation sector, the issue of improving the capacity and aviation infrastructure of the country’s Tbilisi and Kutaisi International Airports has become a priority – in Kutaisi, the 3,5 km long runway will be renovated, and in Tbilisi, the construction of a completely new airport is planned. Vaziani Airport will be able to serve 19 million passengers per year, functioning as a regional aviation hub” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of ensuring that the existing Tbilisi airport smoothly serves passengers under increased traffic conditions until the new Vaziani airport becomes fully operational. “Accordingly, our team is working on identifying the best ways for several years of development for the existing airport” – Kvrivishvili added.
“ADP Group and Georgia have a long history of cooperation through our company, TAV Airports, which has led to significant and large-scale results. These achievements are clearly reflected in the successful development of Tbilisi and Batumi airports. Therefore, I want to emphasize that Georgia is a country of great importance to us. We discussed the future prospects for airport development in Georgia, future plans, and the fruitful cooperation that has linked us for years. We hope to develop this cooperation further in the future” – Philippe Pascal, the CEO and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ADP Group commented.
“We are delighted and proud to celebrate 20 years of operating in Tbilisi and Batumi airports. We are ready to make significant investments in the current Tbilisi airport until the new Vaziani airport is fully operational. The goal is to double the current capacity and also to ensure that the airport can function reliably and sustainably with improved infrastructure and renovated services, to effectively serve the increased passenger traffic” – the President of TAV Airports said.
It was noted at the meeting that the parties will continue to cooperate for the further smooth functioning of Tbilisi and Batumi airports.
