Mariam Kvrivishvili Discussed Bilateral Economic Relations with Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, being on an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, held a meeting with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Mikayil Jabbarov.

The Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan congratulated Mariam Kvrivishvili on her appointment as the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, wished her success in her work, and expressed hope that this would be a continuation of new successful cooperation.

The parties discussed priority directions of bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as prospects for cooperation in infrastructure projects of regional importance.

The positive dynamics in bilateral trade between the two countries were emphasized. It was noted that Azerbaijan is one of Georgia’s largest trading partners – according to data from January-May 2025, Georgia’s exports to Azerbaijan increased by 12%. Despite this, it was noted that Georgia has the potential to increase exports to the Azerbaijani market.

The importance of deepening cooperation in such sectors as investments, transport and logistics, tourism, civil aviation, agriculture, communications, etc., was also highlighted at the meeting. 

Special attention was paid to the facilitation and fostering of the implementation of regional projects.

The parties also discussed deepening cooperation in the tourism sector. It was noted that Azerbaijan is one of the fastest-growing tourist markets for Georgia, and according to data from 2024 and the first two quarters of 2025, it is the fifth among the countries from which the most international visitors enter Georgia. The meeting also focused on developing relations in civil aviation and the possibility of adding frequencies and destinations.

Mariam Kvrivishvili invited her Azerbaijani colleague to the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, which will be held for the fifth time this year.

Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze and Guram Guramishvili, as well as the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze, attended the meeting.
