The first half of the year ended with record-breaking growth indicators for the civil aviation sector. In the first six months of 2025, Georgian airports served 3 654 063 passengers, which is by 14% higher figure than the number of passengers served during the same period of 2024.
From January to June of the current year, Tbilisi International Airport served 2,358,937 passengers. The increase compared to the same period in 2024 was 11%. According to data from the first six months, Kutaisi International Airport served 833 512 passengers, which is by 12% higher figure than the number of passengers transported in the same period last year. Batumi International Airport transported 450 330 passengers, which is by 35% higher figure than the indicators for January-June of 2024.
From January to June of the current year, a record number of nearly 17 000 international and domestic flights were performed at Georgian airports. The number of regular flights performed during the first half of the year amounted to 12 857, while the number of charter flights reached 3 874. In total, the number of passenger and cargo flights performed in the first half of the year (16 731) is 14% higher than the number of flights performed in the same period of 2024.
Growth rates are also high in terms of air cargo transportation – in January-June 2025, the volume of goods transported by air amounted to 16550,916 tons. Compared to the same period in 2024, cargo turnover is increased by 50%.
The indicators for the use of Georgian airspace are also increased, specifically, compared to the first 6 months of 2024, the utilization of Georgian airspace is increased by 7%. In total, 139 945 overflights were recorded from January to June.
According to the number of passengers transported in January-June 2025, Wizz Air continues to lead the Georgian aviation market. The airline holds an 18% market share and has transported 642 956 passengers.
