Mariam Kvrivishvili Met with Turkish Ambassador to Georgia, Ali Kaan Orbay

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, discussed important issues of trade and economic relations between the two countries during a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia, Ali Kaan Orbay. The parties emphasized the steps taken towards further strengthening of the long-standing strategic partnership between Georgia and Turkey and the very fruitful cooperation within this relationship in economic sectors such as bilateral trade, energy, transport, logistics, tourism, investments, and other important areas.

As stated at the meeting, economic ties between the two countries are very intense and multifaceted, which is reflected in annually growing statistical indicators, including the increasing dynamics of export-import, transport shipments, tourism, air passenger transport, electricity trade, and generally, trends that highlight Turkey’s role as Georgia’s most important trade and economic partner state. Mariam Kvrivishvili and Ali Kaan Orbay discussed future plans and important initiatives that should be implemented with the active involvement of Georgian-Turkish governmental and private business circles. These activities should include discussing issues related to the upcoming intergovernmental economic commission, as well as the visit of the Turkish Minister of Trade to Georgia and the holding of a business forum within the framework of this visit, where up to 300 companies from both countries will participate.

The Turkish Ambassador congratulated Mariam Kvrivishvili on her appointment as Minister and expressed hope that the Ministry of Economy, together with the relevant Turkish agencies, will continue to make maximum efforts to develop economic relations between the two countries to an even higher level.

Deputy Minister Genadi Arveladze and the Head of the Department of Trade Development and International Economic Relations of the Ministry, Givi Zedelashvili, also attended the meeting with the Turkish Ambassador at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
