Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, introduced Tornike Kazarashvili as the new General Director of the Electricity Market Operator (ESCO) to the Agency’s staff.

As the Minister stated, Tornike Kazarashvili has extensive experience in leadership positions in the energy sector. “Mr. Kazarashvili is a professional in the field and is well acquainted with the capabilities and challenges of the energy sector. ESCO makes a huge contribution to maintaining the stability of the country’s electricity sector, and I am confident that the new head of the Agency, together with his professional team, will successfully cope with the assigned tasks” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted, wishing Tornike Kazarashvili success in his future endeavors.

Tornike Kazarashvili has considerable working experience both in in the private and public energy sectors. He holds a Master’s academic degree from the Faculty of Energy and Telecommunications of the Georgian Technical University, specializing in project management.

Electricity Market Operator (ESCO) plays a very important role in ensuring Georgia’s continuous electricity supply and, in general, in the development of its energy sector. ESCO exclusively carries out trading in balancing electricity and guaranteed capacity, imports and exports electricity according to seasonal needs, inspects wholesale metering nodes, and provides guaranteed purchases of electricity generated by newly built power plants.
