At a meeting with the Chinese company Zhongbo Group, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, discussed the investment environment in Georgia’s energy sector, its development strategy, reforms, and important projects.
During the meeting, Mariam Kvrivishvili presented the country’s economic indicators to the company’s management, with a detailed discussion on the development of the energy sector and the initiatives the government is implementing to support the private sector. These initiatives aim to maximize the potential of Georgia’s hydropower resources, as well as its solar, wind, and other renewable energy sources. The company representatives expressed great interest in a comprehensive study of the sector and in making significant investments in various areas of Georgia’s renewable energy.
Deputy Minister Inga Pkhalaishvili and the Head of the Ministry’s Department of Energy Policy and Investment Projects, Aleksandre Sokhadze also attended the meeting with the Chinese company.
Zhongbo Group, with its headquarters in Beijing, was founded in 1991 and employs over 10000 people. With more than 40 subsidiaries, Zhongbo Group invests in the construction of 26 plants worldwide. In the renewable energy sector, the group invests in and builds large-scale solar and wind power plants, battery storage stations, and combined renewable energy power plants. Zhongbo Group is one of the largest companies in China, with an annual revenue exceeding 6 billion USD.
