“Georgia’s economic policy, for our government under the leadership of the Prime Minister, is aimed at putting Georgia among the ranks of developed countries by increasing prosperity and wealth” – Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated in her speech at the opening ceremony of the new metallurgy factory of Georgia Metal LLC in Zestafoni.
Mariam Kvrivishvili, along with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, opened the metallurgical enterprise equipped with modern technologies and high-quality machinery.
According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the enterprise is a clear example of the current situation in terms of the country’s economic development, which includes promoting private initiatives, increasing access to finance, diversifying export markets and creating new jobs.
The metallurgical enterprise employs over 400 people, the investment amounts to 80 million GEL, and the annual output will exceed 400000 tons of building materials.
“This is precisely the volume that will be added to our domestic consumer market and will reduce the country’s need for imports. The processing industry is very important for the development of our country’s economy and the creation of new jobs. The sector currently employs moreover 200000 people, which accounts for 15% of total employment. It is important to continue the consistent policy of the country’s economic development, to use all the necessary tools to facilitate the implementation of such important projects. The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, with the support of the Prime Minister, will continue to work actively in this direction” – Mariam Kvrivishvili said. According to the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Georgia is globally distinguished by a high economic growth trend and the government’s forecasts are also shared by international financial organizations.
“Our government ensures the maintenance of stability and peace in Georgia, as well as the strengthening of sovereignty, which is a fundamental prerequisite for the implementation of an economic policy focused on people, entrepreneurs, and the development of the country. This is the policy that ensures the attraction of new investments, sustainable economic development, and the creation of new jobs in our country, and most importantly, the increase of the economic well-being of each of our citizens and society” – Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
