Tamar Ioseliani: According to the 9-month data of 2025, record-braking indicators recorded in Georgian airports – 14%, and the number of flights increased passenger traffic – by 18%

Based on the data for the first 9 months of the current year, a record number of flights were performed at Georgian airports. As Tamar Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated, the growth is recorded in the number of flights as well as the traffic data for passengers.

“2025 is a record year for us – passenger traffic in Georgian airports was increased by 14%, and the number of flights – by 18%. Tbilisi International Airport has already served 6,5 million passengers, which is a 14% increase compared to the previous year. As for Kutaisi and Batumi Airports, the growth amounted to 10% and 32%, respectively,” – Tamar Ioseliani stated.

The number of regular flights performed during January-September totaled to 22125 flights, while the number of charter flights reached 6556. In total, the number of flights performed in the first 9 months of this year (28681) exceeds the number of flights carried out during the similar period of 2024 (24348) by 18%.

As about passenger traffic data, Georgian airports served 6 489 755 passengers in January-September, which is by 14% more than the passenger traffic in the analogous period of 2024 (5682304). Compared to the same period of 2024, these figures by airports are as follows: Tbilisi International Airport – 4067202 passengers with a 12% increase; Kutaisi International Airport – 1407814 passengers with a 10% increase. The highest growth was recorded at Batumi International Airport – the airport served 995099 passengers in 9 months, which is a 32% increase compared to the number of passengers transported last year.

Deputy Minister highlighted that the work is still in progress to further development of the aviation infrastructure in order to establish Georgia as an aviation hub.
“We are holding negotiations with both airlines and airports to maintain and further increase the growing trends in the sector, so that we can serve more passengers and more flights” – Tamar Ioseliani noted.

According to the number of passengers transported in January-September 2025, Wizz Air continues to lead the Georgian aviation market. The top three companies by the number/percentage share of passengers carried on international regular and charter flights are: Wizz Air Hungary – 17% (1 065 618 passengers); Georgian Airways – 8% (509 238 passengers); and Trkish Airlines – 7% (458 370 passengers).

High figures are also recorded in cargo transportation, both for the third quarter and the 9-month period. In total, the volume of cargo transported by air in the past 9 months amounted to 25 905,200 tons.
