Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, together with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and other representatives of the Georgian government delegation, visited Georgia’s exhibition space at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai. This year, Georgia is participating as the Guest Country of Honour at the exhibition, presented across three pavilions with a total area of 1000 square meters.

The Minister evaluated the visit to the People’s Republic of China as a highly important and successful event.

“Within the framework of the visit, we held high-level meetings, including one with the Premier of China. Key memoranda and agreements were also signed, which will further strengthen trade, economic, and people-to-people relations between Georgia and the People’s Republic of China. We are confident that following this visit, Georgia-China cooperation will be further enhanced” – Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.

The Minister also evaluated Georgia’s participation in the Shanghai International Import Expo highlighting that this year is particularly significant because it was the first time Georgia had been the Guest of Honour.

“In order to ensure high economic growth and stable revenues for businesses and the state, diversification of export markets and support for Georgian entrepreneurs represent our main priorities. China is a significant trade partner for Georgia, and the further strengthening of this partnership, which is ensured by the Free Trade Agreement between Georgia and China, is a priority for our country.

Participation in such targeted, results-oriented, and large-scale events, alongside close cooperation with the private sector, will ensure the growth of Georgian product exports to the Chinese market. All of this will strengthen our entrepreneurs and increase the capacity for Georgian product manufacturing. Focusing on exports is especially crucial for the growth and sustainability of the country’s economy and the stability of the national currency. Consequently, every opportunity will be maximized” – the Minister explained.

According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, products of 40 Georgian companies were represented at the exhibition.

“The companies have the opportunity, over the coming days, to showcase the variety of products manufactured in Georgia at the exhibition, where Georgia is presented with three pavilions. Within the framework of the exhibition, we will be able to introduce Georgian products to local Chinese companies together with the private sector” – the Minister noted.

Mariam Kvrivishvili also highlighted another Georgian pavilion where visitors had the opportunity to learn about Georgian culture, as well as taste Georgian dishes and Georgian wine.

“We are confident that in the coming days, on the one hand, we will further increase Georgia’s awareness in the Chinese tourism market and, on the other hand, we will ensure that through joint efforts, we promote the growth of our entrepreneurs’ product exports to the Chinese market” – the Minister said.

Georgia’s participation in the China International Import Expo was ensured by the Enterprise Georgia Agency in cooperation with the National Tourism Administration and the National Wine Agency. This marks Georgia’s eighth continuous participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE).
