Tamar Ioseliani at Georgia-Japan Business Forum

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tamar Ioseliani addressed the audience at the Georgia-Japan Business Forum.

The Deputy Minister gave the positive evaluation of the economic ties between Georgia and Japan and expressed hope that such business forums would further strengthen relations between the two countries. According to Tamar Ioseliani, there are significant cooperation opportunities between the nations in sectors such as transport and logistics, energy, trade, information technology and others.

The Deputy Minister focused on Georgia’s role in the development of the Middle Corridor and highlighted infrastructure projects whose development will increase the corridor’s throughput and competitiveness. Among them, Tamar Ioseliani named the modernization of Georgian Railways, the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, the East-West Highway, the new Tbilisi International Airport and others.

“Georgia is a natural gateway for connecting regional markets. In recent years, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, widely known as the Middle Corridor, has gained special importance. In this regard, Georgia has shown that it is a reliable and effective connecting hub between Asia and Europe. By 2032, we plan to mobilize approximately 7 billion USD nationwide for the modernization and development of transport and logistics infrastructure” – Tamar Ioseliani noted.

Representatives of the Enterprise Georgia Agency and the Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development gave presentations on Georgia’s investment opportunities and the country’s innovative ecosystem at the business forum.
