Mariam Kvrivishvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, met with Zhuang Rongwen, the Director of the Cyberspace Administration of the People’s Republic of China.
The parties focused on the importance of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the development of bilateral economic ties. Emphasis was placed on the progress in Georgia-China trade and economic relations, which was significantly driven by the strengthening of cooperation between the government and business sectors.
Particular accent was given to relations in the fields of communications, information, and modern technologies, which will contribute to the development of the digital economy.
Mariam Kvrivishvili introduced the Chinese side to the priorities of Georgia’s digital economy development. The meeting highlighted Georgia’s goal to maximize its role as a digital-transit hub connecting Asia and Europe. It was noted that the development of large-scale data centers is strategically important for Georgia, which will turn the country into a regional digital node. The parties discussed the possibility of cooperation in this direction.
The meeting also focused on cooperation between the two countries in terms of using and implementing artificial intelligence between the public and private sectors.
Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani and Genadi Arveladze participated in the meeting.
