Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Inga Pkhaladze, met with Roland Pryce, the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, and his accompanying delegation. The sides discussed issues of cooperation regarding the strengthening of energy security, energy interconnectivity, and the Energy Security and Renewable Energy (ESPIRE) program, while also reviewing the progress of the Black Sea Submarine Cable project.
It was noted that with the World Bank’s active support, preparatory works for the Black Sea seabed survey are progressing successfully. Meeting participants discussed the details of the survey and upcoming activities related to route detailing, environmental assessments, and other directions. A key topic of discussion was the fiber-optic cable component, which is being implemented as part of the submarine cable project.
The meeting with the World Bank mission was also attended by Zviad Gachechiladze, Member of the Board of Directors of the Georgian State Electrosystem (GSE).
