Second meeting of the Georgia-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation was held which was co-chaired by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili. The meeting was conducted within the framework of the Prime Minister of Georgia’s official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.

From the Kyrgyz side, the commission was co-chaired by the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Bakyt Sydykov.

In her speech, Mariam Kvrivishvili placed particular emphasis on the historic significance of the Georgian Prime Minister’s visit to Kyrgyzstan. The Minister stated that this step clearly reflects the growing dynamics of cooperation.

As Mariam Kvrivishvili noted, strengthening partnerships with the Central Asian region, including the Kyrgyz Republic, represents one of Georgia’s priority directions. According to the Minister, owing to its strategic location, Georgia stands ready to ensure connectivity between Europe and Asia and to become a gateway of paramount importance for the Central Asian region.

Mariam Kvrivishvili spoke at length about Georgia’s high rates of economic growth and its investment potential. During the commission meeting, it was highlighted that, given the growing importance of the Middle Corridor in reinforcing connections between Asia and Europe, the Government of Georgia pays great attention to strategic investments in transport infrastructure and is actively developing its logistical infrastructure.

The meeting also touched upon opportunities to deepen cooperation in terms of bilateral trade between Georgia and Kyrgyzstan.

During the session, high praise was given to the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport, including within regional formats such as the TRACECA and CAREC programs. Furthermore, Georgia’s role as a regional digital hub was emphasized. It was also noted that Kyrgyzstan represents a promising and increasingly important tourism market for Georgia, characterized by a growing upward trend in visitor influx. In addition, the sides highlighted the deepening of cooperation in sectors such as civil aviation.

The commission meeting concluded with the signing of the official protocol.

The meeting was attended from the Georgian side by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songhulashvili, the Deputy Head of the Government Administration, Ilia Shamugia, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Genadi Arveladze, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili.
