Mariam Kvrivishvili Met with the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, met with Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov. The parties discussed the prospects for deepening economic, trade and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

As Mariam Kvrivishvili stated during the meeting, Georgia has great potential to increase the export of traditional products to the Uzbek market. Furthermore, attention was drawn to the growing dynamics of Uzbek investments in the country. It was noted that the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation represents a significant format for strengthening economic relations, with its next meeting scheduled to be held in Georgia in the near future.

The parties welcomed the strengthening of cooperation between the business circles of the two countries and expressed hope that the bilateral business forum would yield tangible results for the development of joint business initiatives.

Cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors was also covered at the meeting. Mariam Kvrivishvili highlighted Georgia’s role as a connector between Europe and Asia. Emphasis was placed on strategic projects such as the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line, the East-West Highway and the new Tbilisi airport project.

The Ministers also discussed cooperation in the field of tourism, highlighting the positive impact of direct air connectivity on the growth of tourist flows. It was noted that in 2025, the number of visits from Uzbekistan increased by 13 percent. Additionally, joint projects aimed at developing information technology, innovation and the startup ecosystem were discussed.
