Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, signed agreements and memorandums aimed at deepening cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The documents were signed within the framework of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Georgia. The signing ceremony took place following the extended-format meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the subsequent signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement.

Specifically, a one-year Action Plan was signed between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This document aims to stimulate economic activity and ensure closer connectivity between the two countries in the trade-economic, tourism, logistics, and transport sectors.

An agreement on cooperation in the fields of information and communication technologies and digitalization was also signed. The document will support the development of broadband internet infrastructure, including the Europe-Asia digital corridor, data centers, and accelerate digital transformation.

The Memorandum of Understanding in the field of tourism, signed between Georgia and Uzbekistan, provides for deepening tourism cooperation, sharing experience and best practices and promoting investment opportunities between the two countries.

The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in implementing the E-Permit - an electronic permit exchange information system, which is to facilitate a gradual transition to electronic permits for international road freight transport. The memorandum also entails the exchange of knowledge and experience between the parties in this field.

Along with Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the agreements and memorandums were signed by Bakhtiyor Saidov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ilkhom Makhkamov, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Abdulaziz Akulov, Chairman of the Tourism Committee.
