Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Tamar Ioseliani and Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation of Japan, Hideto Kawasaki signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Cooperation in the Field of Digitalization Between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Digital Agency of Japan.

According to Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani, the goal of the Government of Georgia is to develop a modern, secure, and innovative digital ecosystem in the country. This encompasses further improving public services, strengthening the digital economy, implementing new technologies, responsibly utilizing artificial intelligence and fostering active collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“In this process, the experience of a country like Japan is particularly valuable to us, as it possesses significant practical expertise in digital governance, the development of advanced technologies and their integration into economic and societal processes,” – Tamar Ioseliani noted.

During the meeting between the parties, discussions focused on the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of digital technologies. Specific directions, projects, and activities were defined for joint work between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Agency for Digital Transformation of Japan. It was highlighted that one of the main directions of Georgia’s Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy and Information Society 2025-2030 is the further advancement of digital governance and citizen-centric digital public services. In this regard, sharing the experience of a country like Japan is of great importance.
