First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili, within the framework of the visit to Spain, held a meeting with the UN World Tourism Organization newly elected Secretary General, Zurab Pololikashvili at the UNWTO office. Prospects of cooperation between Georgia and the UNWTO were discussed during the meeting, which was also attended by the Chair of the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Chogovadze.
First Vice Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili congratulated Zurab Pololikashvili on electing at such high position of one of the most important UN organizations and wished him success. He also gave great importance to Georgia’s cooperation with the United Nations World Tourism Organization and expressed hope that the relations will be even further enhanced in the future.
Activities carried out under the auspices of the UN International Tourism Organization in Georgia, including the tourism and mountain resorts development conferences in Georgia were also covered during the meeting. The Chair of the National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Giorgi Chogovadze gave the highest evaluation of Zurab Pololikashvili’s election on the position of the Secretary General of the UNWTO since it will serve as additional stimulus for developing new projects with support of this organization.
Zurab Pololikashvili has officially entered the office of the UN World Tourism Organization Secretary General. He highlighted priorities which include safety, attracting investments in the tourism industry and issuing individual recommendations for particular countries and resorts in terms of tourism development. Special attention will also be paid to development of innovations and online market of services.
First Vice Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili is paying a visit to the Kingdom of Spain. Within the frames of the visit, the First Vice Prime Minister examined Georgia’s tourism pavilion at the International Tourism Fair in Madrid – FITUR 2018, which is one of the largest in the world.
