Natia Turnava: Local citizens will be engaged in the natural gas infrastructure construction

Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava met with population of the village Orpiri of the Tkibuli Municipality within the frames of the visit to the region which aims at examination of the gasification works in Imereti. According to the gas transportation company representatives, the gas main line is close to the village, so it is possible to involve it in the gas network and the construction of the appropriate infrastructure can be accomplished in a short period of time. Besides, Natia Turvanava noted that the large portion of the employees engaged in the works will be hired from the local population, which will be an additional benefit for the Tkibuli Municipality.

As the Deputy Minister stated at the meeting with the population, in 2019-2021, following the three-year gasification plan, 18 villages of the Imereti Region will start work on gasification, after completion of which 2979 households will have access to the natural gas network.

Currently, gasification works are being carried out in the village of Chikhori of the Terjola Municipality. As a result, 145 households will have access to the natural gas network. Within the framework of the project, a 8067-meter pipeline will be built.

Gasification process is also underway in 4 villages of the Tskaltubo Municipality: Lower and Upper Meskheti, Brotseula and Mukhiani. As a result, 1291 households will have access to the natural gas network. Within the framework of the project, a 64575-meter pipeline will be constructed.

Imereti Governor Shavlego Tabatadze, the Socar Gas Georgia Director Azer Mammadov and Jaba Khmaladze, the Director General of the Georgian Gas Transportation Company, accompanied Natia Turnava during her visit to the Imereti, which aimed at the examination of the gasification process.
