“This is an important investment for the development of tourism, especially especially – mountaineering and skiing tourism. The infrastructure that was built will serve the resort for years and will increase the importance of Bakuriani on an international tourism map,” – Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili stated after inspecting the infrastructure built for the World Cup in Bakuriani.
Vice Prime Minister visited Bakuriani together with Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and got acquainted with the preparations for the championship on the spot.
As Vice Prime Minister noted, historically all winter sports were presented in Bakuriani. “We are slowly restoring this infrastructure. This time we have organized the infrastructure of mountain-ski sports in full compliance with the most modern standards. 270 million GEL was spent on it. Three new cable-roads were built and 6 new tracks were arranged, and the artificial snowmaking systems were put into operation, which are unprecedentedly long and built according to modern standards. Today, Bakuriani fully complies with the requirements of the International Ski Federation. That is the objective assessment of the international experts. Bakuriani is ready to hold not only the this championship, but it can also become part of the regular sports calendar. We will have very important international sports events in the years after 2023,” – Levan Davitashvili commented.
Vice Prime Minister highlighted that Bakuriani’s recognition will increase internationally. “We will be able to attract more tourists and the resort will have more vacationers. All this serves the local and national economy,” – Levan Davitashvili added.
