21-07-2025

Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development stated the following: “The record revenues of the second quarter mean that our forecast and expectations have been met – the tourism sector continues its growth dynamics this year as well. Tourism is a crucial sector for our country’s economy. The latest statistical data clearly shows that the state’s policy implemented for development, including the diversification of tourist markets and the conduct of marketing campaigns, is correct and successful, which is reflected in the overall revenue growth received in January-June 2025.”

Mariam Kvrivishvili noted that the existence of more direct flights is important for the tourism sector, for which the Georgian government has done extensive work and achieved significant results. Currently, the number of direct flights is at a historical maximum – over 70 airlines operate from Georgian airports to more than 110 destinations.

“In recent years, we have actively worked towards diversifying tourist and aviation markets and increasing passenger flow. The correct policy pursued in this regard and the work carried out to attract high-spending tourists are reflected in the record statistical data. It is noteworthy that a record number of tourist visits were made to Georgia in 2024, reaching a historical maximum of 5,1 million visits. It is important that the trend of record growth continues this year, meaning that the government’s correct policy is working in the long term. Our forecast and expectation are that the growth dynamics in the tourism sector will continue in the future” – the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development noted.

It is noteworthy that in January-June 2025, revenues from travel (tourism) increased by 3,8% year-on-year, reaching a record volume of almost 2 billion USD (1 971,0 million USD).
